Hiking Viking Mountain

My husband and our faithful companions hiked Viking Mountain here in Greeneville TN overlapping into North Carolina last weekend. The views were spectacular and the ever changing rainbow of fall colors were a welcome sight. I don't think I can remember a more beautiful fall and look forward to going back this weekend.

I love rolled hay bales and country living here in Greeneville. If you've never experienced the rolling hills of Tennessee, you have missed out. I can't imagine living anywhere else.

As we were driving back down the mountain, we happened to catch a glimpse of a Ruffled Grouse. I wished I could have captured a better picture of it, but it flew off after eating some berries along the guard rail. This was the first time I had ever seen one in person and up close and it was such a treat.

Vintage Silver, Crows & White Pumpkins

Fall is my favorite time of year! I searched online for ideas to decorate with white pumpkins and found an awesome mantel display on Craftberry Bush website!

Since I was unable to find any white pumpkins around my area, I decided to just buy the orange ones in various sizes and shapes and paint them in an off-white paint in satin finish. I applied 2 coats within a couple of hours and let them dry well before decorating. I did, however, scratch a few and just touched them up with small detail brush.

I dug out some of my vintage silver pieces that I've collected over the years, blended in some owls, and hung some old metal crib springs on top of the vintage bookpage backgound and finally, my 2011 Fall mantle is complete!
